sweet sweet spring

although its arrival has been tentative at best this year, spring is such a lovely time of year. my mom was able to come up for a visit on mother's day weekend, and we went up to skagit valley to say hello to the tulips. it was the week after the official festival, but it was still lush and stunningly beautiful.

these were shot with expired print film, on my nikon.

yum.

in an effort to help me celebrate the start of the last year of my twenties, ethan surprised me with the most incredibly rad present, my very own studio lights.

grabbing what was handy - a scrumptious red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting - i began to play.

now i just need to keep playing. i no longer have an excuse, other than my own laziness, to not get back to work.

and from the drive home:

stopped and wandered around cannon beach. saw this father and daughter playing. melted.

chapel on orcas

this was several months ago, but alas i'm only just now getting around to posting. ethan and i went to orcas island for a wedding. bride and groom - meredith and adrian - invited 40 or so friends and family members and plus-ones for a ceremony in this small, lovely chapel. it took forever to find the place, with lots of u-turns en route, but it was just perfect.

remnants of georgetown photoshoot

From the old Nikon (my new favorite piece of equipment):

And, finally, my favorite shot of the day is quite possibly this outtake...

ms. stanton

My absolutely stunningly beautiful coworker Tina agreed to be my model for a day. So we met up in Georgetown at the crack of dawn on Presidents' Day, but I was a little rusty, so it wasn't until a couple of hours in that I finally felt comfortable back in the mode of photographer. Anyway, here are a few shots.

After we tired of Georgetown (which is actually quite difficult, because it's a rad neighborhood), we headed to Discovery Park...
