cover shot

'tis mine. shot it ages ago, and the issue finally came out this week. could only find this small image of it online, but you get the general idea.

til my trophies at last i lay down

dwight singing a bit of "old rugged cross"- a personal favorite.

cracks me up how he's singing along so beautifully, so moving, and then he just stops and goes on with what he was saying before. but it's still just so gorgeous.

how to make a girl smile:

bring her a piece of homemade apple pie on a sunday morning

"You're never too old to go to space camp, dude."

- Dave (Harold's friend) in Stranger than Fiction

the curmudgeon

spent a perfect sunny afternoon at the zoo yesterday, with a certain lovely somebody.

this gorilla, whom i've yet to name, was my favorite.

an evening climb

There was a lunar eclipse tonight, so Troy and I made a little trip up to the rooftop (our very very steep rooftop, along the lines of the ones you see across the way) to take some snapshots. I was a little nervous in the climb, but I conquered my fear, and the view was worth it. The moon in the picture doesn't exactly look eclipsed, but it was. You'll have to take me at my word on this one.

all i want

joni said it best:

i am on a lonely road, and i am traveling
traveling, traveling, traveling

looking for something, what can it be

oh i hate you some, i hate you some

i love you some

oh i love you when i forget about me

i want to be strong
i want to laugh along

i want to belong to the living

alive alive, i want to get up and jive

want to wreck my stockings in some juke box dive

do you want, do you want, do you want

to dance with me baby

do you want to take a chance
maybe finding some sweet romance with me baby

well, come on

all i really really want our love to do

is to bring out the best in me and you too

all i really really want our love to do

is to bring out the best in me and you

i want to talk to you
i want to shampoo you

i want to renew you, again and again

applause, applause - life is our cause

when i think of your kisses

my mind see-saws

do you see, do you see, do you see

how you hurt me baby

so i hurt you too

then we both get so blue

i am on a lonely road and i am traveling

looking for the key to set me free

oh the jealousy, the greed is the unraveling

it's the unraveling

and it undoes all the joy that could be

i want to have fun
i want to shine like the sun

i want to be the one that you want to see

i want to knit you a sweater

i want to write you a love letter

i want to make you feel better

i want to make you feel free

hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm,

want to make you feel free

i want to make you feel free

a sunny day at the market

Went to the Ballard Farmer's Market for the first time today. It was the most gorgeous day imaginable. Sunny but cold. Bought fresh baked sourdough, yummy cheeses, and apples. And ate a lemon sugar crepe while listening to a bluegrass band called The Tallboys. Couldn't ask for more.

(a photo I took of the handsome accoustic bass player)

early morning rain

my dad just sent this to me. peter, paul, and mary covering a gordon lightfoot song.

how do morning people do it?

Seriously, this is the first time I've been up before 7 am in ages, and I feel like I could fall right over. But I start my new photo job today, so I'm stoked.

why my mom is awesome:

I got a card from her today, a singing card, with Lucy and Ethel on the front and the song "Friendship" on the inside. Wishing me a happy un-birthday (the "un" portion, of course, being written in by hand) and telling me how much she values my friendship and believes in me. And there was also a $20 bill slipped in there, with a note telling me to treat myself to some good coffee or a nice glass of wine.

Hence, my mother rules.

making me smile on a tuesday morning

i LOVE carol burnett. and julie's quite wonderful too.

"you just got a subscription for love"

no joke, this was in the email i just received welcoming me to match.com

so, yeah, i have a one-month subscription. it was entirely against my better judgment, but i figured it should be good for some laughs and some stories, if nothing else. honestly, the quote above is almost worth the cost. plus, my roommate is doing it too, so we can endure it together.

anyway, i'll be sure to share any horror stories. =)

album art ~

I'm intriqued by it. Here are some favorites:
